ARES Related Events, Nets, Meetings, and Exercises

 

State Amateur Radio Network Weekly EOC Net - Listen on 444.825 Wednesdays at 1:00 PM.  ONLY EOC’s may check in on UHF.  HF follows on 7.242.  Anyone can check in on HF.  (During disaster activations this net will usually be restricted to emergency and specified traffic, as established by the State EOC.)

 

Citrus County ARES Weekly Net - Check In on 146.955* Wednesdays at 7:30 PM - Visitors and Non-ARES members are encouraged to check in also.  You can also check in on 443.375 (Tone 146.2) after the initial VHF roll call.

 

HF North Florida Phone Net - 3.950 Mhz starting at 1930 hours daily.  Check-In when our county is called.  Please allow the “regulars” to check-in first to avoid “doubles.”  Districts will be called by a daily rotation.  Click the link for additional HF Nets.

2024-2025 Amateur Radio License Examination Schedule

Time:  Be at EOC by 8:20 a.m.  (The group must enter at the same time.  The facility is normally locked during non-business hours.)

Needed for the Exam:

 

Bring Photo ID (Such as a driver’s license.)

 

Bring $15 Cash or a $15 Check made out to the ARRL.

 

Get the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Federal Registration Number (FRN.)  You must obtain the FRN before you can take the exam.  Its free from the FCC at their website:

If you presently have an amateur radio license, please bring an official copy to the exam session. (You must login to your license file to download an “official” copy.)

 

For the $15 you get a chance (if you wish) to take all three radio class exams:  Technician, General, and Extra.  (Limited to one try at each level for the session.)
